The United States currently has 100 nuclear reactors that produce 19% of total electrical output for the nation.* With the growing industry in mind, the University of Pittsburgh's Swanson School of Engineering offers an Online Master of Science (30-credits) through the Stephen R. Tritch Nuclear Engineering Program. This graduate-level program allows you to gain nuclear power experience, develop sharper skills, and increase knowledge in as few as 10 courses. Our MS in Nuclear Engineering is uniquely positioned to support students looking to develop nuclear power knowledge and organizations seeking opportunities to support their current staff's skill development through a Master's program.

The Pittsburgh region is home to numerous utility generators, industry equipment suppliers, commercial R&D Companies, and government agencies who have identified the skills needed by the next generation of nuclear hires. Our program was created to address this need. Academics and industry professionals have collaborated to create the program’s curriculum, along with our Graduate Certificate curriculum, and it is continually adjusted and improved in order to meet the needs of the advancing nuclear industry. Our courses are taught by senior leadership members from the nuclear power industry and focuses on the different facets of nuclear power, including energy generation, operations safety, and environmental issues & policy.
