Hobbs, Madeline

Major: Bioengineering
Hometown: Portsmouth, RI
High School: Portsmouth High School

Why you chose Pitt:

I choose Pitt for the urban campus and location as well as the exciting opportunities offered through the Swanson School of Engineering. Particularly the engineering specific study abroad programs as well as the flexible co-op program.

Advice to First Year Engineering Student:

Go talk to professors in office hours especially if you are struggling in a class. They are approachable and willing to work with you if you put in the effort to reach out to them. Go and try different clubs/activities than you were previously involved, this is your chance to try new things!

Extracurricular involvement and or Future Goals:

Varsity Division 1 Women’s Soccer Team
BMES
Blue and Gold Society
CCChampions- Connecting children with cancer with friendship champions

My future goals include working with a global medical device company so that I can work to solve global health problems and travel.
