Have you had any memorable experiences during the program?

The bioengineering program at Pitt has been a series of incredible experiences for me. I was able to become involved with the Biomedical Engineering Society early in my time at Pitt and got to learn about and become part of the tight-knit community in our department. I've had the fortune of being able to study abroad two times- one full semester in Singapore and a summer term doing research in Israel. I am a research engineering co-op at Philips Sleep & Respiratory Care in Monroeville, a job that I love and have been able to learn so much from. As an upperclassmen, I've taken an interest to design and entrepreneurship, having participated in and won multiple design and business plan competitions. All of these experiences have made my time in the BioE department wonderful and invaluable.

How has the Pitt BioE undergraduate program helped you grow?

I've been able to expand my capabilities as a global citizen, teammate and engineer while being able to tailor my experience, skills and interests in ways that suit me and help others. The undergrad program has provided me with opportunities to grow my professional network and added to my confidence that I can make meaningful contributions to society.

Any advice for future bioengineering students?

Try as many things as you can, ask lots of questions, go outside of your comfort zone and be nice to people!

What are your future plans?

I plan to enter industry with a focus on medical device design upon graduation. My future goals include obtaining a graduate degree (MS, MBA or PhD.) and traveling as much as possible!

Why should someone choose Pitt BioE?

It is a tight-knit community that provides you the opportunities to make a difference in other people's lives starting the day you get here!
