ANSYS has been collaborating with Pitt’s additive manufacturing program since 2013. In June 2016, ANSYS established a five-year partnership with Pitt to support research and commercialization of emerging AM modeling
and simulation tools. In addition to being the single largest financial contributor to Pitt’s AM program, which facilitated the launch of the MOST-AM Consortium, their support resulted in the dedication of the ANSYS Additive Manufacturing Research
Laboratory(AMRL) at Pitt and supports two full-time students. They collaborate with Pitt on two America Makes projects and serve as a pathway to rapid transition of research to commercialization.
Industries has collaborated with Pitt’s AM program since 2015, providing a manufacture engineer to provide operational, design, and manufacturing expertise on the America Makes research project. A two-year partnership was established in 2016 to manage
the AMRL on a full-time basis. This partnership also provides expertise to support MOST-AM and a platform to explore additional collaborative research and education.
