Overview

MODELING & OPTIMIZATION SIMULATION TOOLS FOR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING CONSORTIUM

The MOST-AM Consortium is a public-private partnership aimed at developing the most advanced modeling and simulation tools for additive manufacturing (AM). To achieve its goals, the consortium leverages a generous gift from one of its elite members (ANSYS) along with membership fees, the talent of Pitt’s faculty and Consortium members, and research projects at Pitt funded by government agencies such as America Makes, NSF, NASA, Army, and others.

The Consortium will hold semi-annual meetings to present current research progress, discuss research needs, and select projects. These meetings include presentations and panel discussions, as well as provide a great opportunity for members to interact with each other.

We invite you to join the MOST-AM Consortium. Membership benefits include access to the latest research results as well as a license to the beta-version of any new ANSYS simulation capabilities for AM.

MISSION

Address pressing industrial needs in AM by researching and developing the most advanced modeling and simulation tools.

VISION

Become the preeminent authority for developing and applying simulation tools for optimal AM design and simulation-based certification of metal parts.

GOALS

Develop process modeling technology to reduce AM build failure
Develop topology optimization solutions accepted by industry
Enable simulation-based certification of AM metal parts via process-microstructure-property modeling
