Paycheck Protection Program

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) starts off as a loan to provide small businesses (under 500 employees) w/ capital to retain employees and prevent layoffs. These loans are intended to be forgivable (which means they turn into grants) assuming that the borrowers maintain their workforces and comply with the program requirements.

Economic Injury Disaster Loans

 As part of the government's response to small businesses impacted by COVID-19, Economic Injury Disaster Loan advances are available for up to $10,000. The program will also provide up to $2 million in loans to help small businesses overcome the loss of revenue during closures. 
Loan funds are made available to qualified applicants within three days of submitting an application and the loan advance will not need to be repaid.

Debt Relief and Express Bridge Loans from SBA 

Under the Small Business Administration's (SBA) debt relief program, the SBA will pay the principal and interest of new 7(a) loans issued prior to September 27, 2020, for a period of six months. 
The Express Bridge Loan Program allows small businesses with an existing relationship with SBA Express lender to access up to $25,000 with less paperwork.

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing USA National Emergency Assistance Program

On March 31, NIST announced it had opened funding for rapid, high-impact projects that support U.S.' response to the COVID-19 pandemic. NIST will be awarding funding to Manufacturing USA Institutes' projects that include, but are not limited to:

Pennsylvania Manufacturing Call to Action Portal

The Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development – in collaboration with its strategic partners – wants to mobilize manufacturers that can produce critical medical supplies and products in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you are a current manufacturer of supplies and products or can pivot your existing manufacturing capabilities to meet the necessary demand, we want to hear from you.

DEPT. OF DEFENSE JOINT ACQUISITION TASK FORCE

In a time of unprecedented change and disruption, the Department of the Defense has established the Joint Acquisition Task Force (JATF) for COVID-19 to assess and rapidly respond to challenges presented by this pandemic.
To kick off the effort, the JATF is collecting information from both government and non-government personnel who are interested in getting involved. All resources and solutions are welcome from industry, academia, venture capital firms, individual contributors and more.
Please note: The government plans to use this information to rapidly connect with suppliers based on demand signals coming through FEMA and HHS.  The funds would come through FEMA and HHS and directed through the DoD for speed in acquisition.

America Makes Launches Next Phase in Response to COVID-19

In collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), America Makes launched the next phase of the COVID-19 Health Care Needs and Additive Manufacturing (AM) Capabilities Repository, where additive manufacturers can upload 3D print designs to be reviewed and placed on the NIH 3D Print Exchange.
Designs submitted through the America Makes design submission form in connection with NIH 3D Print Exchange, will be placed in a fast track workflow for faster review. Designs not submitted through the America Makes process may not be considered for the fast track workflow.  All designs will be publicly accessible through the NIH 3D Print Exchange website with their designation.

ARM SOLICITING TECHNOLOGY & WORKFORCE PROJECT PROPOSALS TO MITIGATE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has opened a funding opportunity for rapid, high-impact projects that support the nation’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, using funds appropriated by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act signed on March 27, 2020. ARM Members have the opportunity to submit proposals for funding through ARM; note that all proposals for this funding must go through a Manufacturing USA Institute. This is a rolling submission process, but we encourage you to submit your ideas as soon as possible. The ARM Team will be reviewing and curating proposals on a weekly basis to submit to NIST for funding as soon as possible. Submit your proposal by midnight each Monday for consideration that week. If selected, you will be contacted to provide a more detailed budget, which is required for submission.
