Our primary research interest is in the area of non-pharmacologic management of atrial fibrillation, including device-based and ablation-based therapies. Pursuit of this interest has led to an intense interest in left atrial mechanical function, specifically how the left atrium adapts to chronic pressure overload such as that which occurs with natural aging and which is accelerated by systemic hypertension.
