About Us

The NTE laboratory is a research group within the University of Pittsburgh Department of Bioengineering. The goal of the NTE laboratory is to develop new engineering tools to study and clinically control the interface between tissue and implanted neural recording devices. To this end, our lab conducts research in a number of different directions, including thin film characterization, electrochemical synthesis, in vitro cell culture and stimulation, and in vivo device implantation, recording, and histology. Through the advancements produced by our lab, we hope to further expand the window of neural recording applications, and allow the associated recording and rehabilitation devices to exhibit consistent performance over ever-increasing periods of time.
