On April 10, 2025, the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering held its annual Distinguished Alumni Banquet at the University Club. Damion Shelton (BSBioE ’01, A&S ’01) was recognized at the event as the 2025 Distinguished Alumnus in Bioengineering.
“The Department of Bioengineering is proud to honor Damion and his impactful contributions to the field,” said Sanjeev Shroff, Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Bioengineering. "His career reflects the interdisciplinary nature of bioengineering—from studying biomechanics to a PhD in robotics and co-founding Agility Robotics. Their bipedal robot, Digit, recently recognized by TIME as a top invention of 2024, shows how innovation in bioengineering can boost productivity and reduce risk.”
