Celebrating Pitt Engineering’s 2027 U.S. News Rankings
As we welcome alumni and friends back to campus for Homecoming Week, we have another reason to celebrate. U.S. News & World Report released its 2027 Best Colleges rankings today, and Pitt and the Swanson School both made significant gains.
Vikas Khanna Named Chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Vikas Khanna has been appointed chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, effective September 1, 2026.
Welcome to the 2026–2027 academic year! Each fall brings renewed energy and possibility to campus, but this year carries special meaning as we celebrate 180 years of engineering education at the University of Pittsburgh.
Interim Chair of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Susan Fullerton Shirey will serve as interim chair of the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, effective September 1, 2026. She succeeds Dr. Steven R. Little, who will conclude 14 years as chair at the end of summer.
