Bill Foley
Bill Foley graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in the class of 1982. Bill spent 40 years working as a Petroleum Engineer at Chevron, where he made significant contributions before retiring. He began his career as a production engineer and became Chevron’s artificial lift expert, serving in that role for approximately 12 years and led several API committees for the industry. Later in his career, Bill transitioned into reservoir engineering, specializing as a reservoir simulation expert and helped teach and develop courses in reservoir simulation including simulation of naturally fractured reservoirs. His expertise led him to multiple overseas assignments, including roles in Venezuela, Angola, Nigeria, Argentina, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Canada, and France. Following his technical assignments, Bill moved into management where he supervised a team of simulation engineers. During the last decade of his career, he led multidisciplinary teams of engineers and earth scientists. Together, they conducted assurance reviews for major capital projects, assessing all technical work performed and summarizing project risks for corporate decision-makers. Also taught course about subsurface project management for Chevron. After retirement, serves as a member of the Pitt Advisory Board for Chemical and Petroleum Engineering. Current technical interests include understanding AI applications and following latest developments in oil field technology.
