EOS DMLS M290
Laser powder-bed fusion process
Currently optimized for many Ti- and Ni-base alloys, stainless steel, and aluminum alloys. Parts produce using the DMLS process are very close to 100% dense. The build volume of the machine is 250mm x 250mm x 325mm. Support structures are needed to both support the part during the build and restrain the part to the build plate to control deformation. These support structures need to be machined away after additive manufacturing.

ExOne Innovent Binder Jet 3D Printer
The ExOne Innovent binder jet 3D printing is an excellent tool for development and research of the binder jet 3D process in general that is fully transferable to industrial conditions without the need for larger amounts of powder. The build size of 160 x 65 x 65 mm³ (6.3 x 2.5 x 2.5 in³) enables the printing of small coupon size samples as well as ASTM standard dog bone samples for static and fatigue mechanical testing. The setup at the AMRL includes the curing and depowdering accessories and printheads with binder droplet size of 80, 30 and 10 pL (pico liters) for extremely high precision parts and smooth low surface roughness. Since the Innovent mirrors the industrial size binder jet printer processes, this binder jet 3D printer is ideal to develop new powder systems and postprocessing procedures that can be directly transferred to industrial conditions.
