Engineering Living Learning Community- Forbes Hall

 The Engineering Living Learning Community (LLC) extends learning from the classroom in to the residence hall where students participate in structured programs built around academics, common interests, and shared goals.   Programming within the LLC is a partnership between the Office of Residence Life and the First-Year Engineering Program, Swanson School of Engineering. The Engineering LLC is located in Forbes Hall and houses approximately 230 students.

Programs

  • Rise 'n Shine- Light breakfast provided twice a semester, sponsored by various departments

  • Signing Day- Students celebrate the declaration of their major in the spring semester with a light breakfast, SSOE departmental prizes, and a visit from Roc the Panther

  • Advising Walk-in Hours- An academic advisor is available in Forbes Hall around key times in the term for students to seek academic advice

  • Sweet Suite- Students show off their living space to see who has the "suitest" home in Forbes Hall.  Prizes awarded for "Most Pitt Spirit", "Best Decorated Male" and "Best Decorated Female"

  • P2P'ers: Peer-2-Peer Tutoring- Students create an in-residence network of tutoring to assist one another in their academics, while developing their Pitt network

  • Floor GPA Contest- Floor with the highest GPA in the Fall term wins a floor party at the start of the spring semester
