Why I Chose Pitt

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." I chose Pitt because it has a balance of impressive academics and lively atmosphere which I knew I required to thrive as a student. Students at the University of Pittsburgh and Swanson School of Engineering find a very rare balance between achieving great academic success during their college careers and making memories outside of the library.

Advice to First Year Engineering Students

LIVE IN FORBES HALL! Some of my closest friends lived in Forbes when I was a freshman, and living with other engineering students creates a great community. Additionally, as a female, living on a floor of all female engineering students is a great way to build relationships that might have been harder to create outside of this living community. I think it is important to get involved in activities outside of engineering, but it is also important to have a strong support network of people who truly understand the rigor of an engineering course load. Living in Forbes Hall is a great way to create this.

Extracurricular involvement

I have a co-op with EverPower Wind Holdings for Fall 2015.
I am involved with Pitt Program Council, Engineering Student Council, and EXCEL Engineering, but am always interested in getting new experiences. It leads me to try many different clubs in nearly every area of study - I've even been to women's rugby practice!
My future goals include a pending international experience studying in Madrid, Spain and getting more involved in fitness clubs and intramural sports teams.
