Selecting the engineering school that is right for you is a crucial decision, and one of the most important steps in this process is a campus visit. With this in mind, the First-Year Engineering Program Office offers tours of the Swanson School every weekday, when classes are in session, in the fall, spring and summer term, no appointment or registration is necessary, however please be aware of dates during the terms tours/information sessions are not available. The check-in times for engineering tours/information session are:
Monday and Friday at 12pm and 1pm.Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 1pm.
Please note, our engineering tours are only offered when classes are in session. There are no engineering tours/information sessions during University holidays, breaks or recesses for Pitt students (i.e. Winter break, Spring, Break, etc.), please see dates below or check our Academic Calendar first, then with the other offices on campus that you plan to visit to ensure you schedule appropriately. There will be no engineering tours/information sessions offered on the following dates:
On Friday, July 7th and Friday, July 21st 2017 the Swanson School of Engineering is only offering a tour at 1pm due to a large on-campus program
Monday, August 13th to Friday, August 25th 2017 (no classes in session)
Monday, September 4th 2017(Labor Day)
Monday, November 22nd to 24th 2017 (Thanksgiving Recess)
Monday, December 18th 2017 to January 2nd 2017 (Winter Recess)
A First-Year Program Office staff member will typically greet the families after the tour and answer any additional questions they may have.
The Swanson School of Engineering Tour Check-In is located in the main lobby of Benedum Hall, office suite number 152b (building located on the corner of O'Hara and Thackeray Street, right off of Fifth Avenue, Benedum Hall on Pitt Virtual Campus Map: http://www.tour.pitt.edu/campus-map . Families will check-in at the main reception desk. Please allow about 90 minutes.
There are also recruitment events which are held in conjunction with the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid (OAFA) held at various times throughout the year (fall, spring and summer). For more information, please visit OAFA’s Come Visit webpage .
The engineering tour and information sessions are geared toward prospective freshmen students, however prospective transfer students are welcome.
Prospective transfer students are strongly encouraged to schedule a one-on-one appointment with the Coordinator of Transfer Student Services by calling 412-624-9825.
