Mt. Lebanon High School
Through a grant from the Mascaro Center, Dr. Jennifer Cartier, an associate professor in the science education department at the University of Pittsburgh, worked with Mt. Lebanon High School teachers to develop a six-week unit for Advanced Placement Environmental Science students.
The goal of the project is to teach high school and, eventually, middle school students about sustaining the environment by utilizing green designs in buildings. To pilot the project, students in six classes created approximately 130 projects that had to depict the use of renewable energy sources—the sun and wind. The creative projects ranged from designs of a basic green classroom to elaborate models of a school.
