Jeremy Kimmel

Faculty Mentor: William Federspiel

Update: Dr. Jeremy Kimmel is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine.

Research:Mr. Kimmel's research focuses on the design and development of an extracorporeal hemoadsorption device for the treatment of sepsis. Specifically, a device utilizing porous polymer beads coated with a proprietary biocompatible coating will be developed to remove cytokines from the blood. A mathematical model of hemoadsorption will be developed first. This model will then guide the design and fabrication of an effective device that can be used for extracorporeal treatment of patients with sepsis.
