Integration of Renewable Energy under Weak AC Grid Conditions

Modeling, analysis, and simulation for the investigation of enhanced High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) system design and control, with energy storage, for the application of integrating renewable energy resources under weak AC grid conditions. Specific concepts for the application of Static Var Compensator Plus (SVC-Plus) technology, couple with energy storage (SVC+ES) to HVDC systems will be developed, as a means to enhance grid operation performance and operation where grid interconnections involve large renewable energy production facilities (primarily wind and solar).
