Energy Ambassador Program

The Science & Engineering Ambassadors, a Pittsburgh-based program of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering, addresses the need for a greater popular understanding of scientific issues. The program selects, prepares, and supports a team of experts who work in their local communities to improve public engagement with a variety of timely topics while also providing opportunities for the experts to interact with members of their community.

Currently, the program is focused on the topic of energy. The program seeks to add the perspective of science and engineering to people’s thinking as they make important decisions in their personal and professional lives.

The University of Pittsburgh's Electric Power group has been working with the National Academies of Science and Engineering in a leadership role to bring relatable knowledge of electric power system principles, technology, and policy to the Pittsburgh region.
