Pitt | Swanson Engineering

Major: Electrical Engineering
Hometown: West Chester, PA
High School: Downington West High School

Why you chose Pitt:

Pitt was always my first choice; I went on a campus tour with my older brother and fell in love with the campus. I learned about the Co-Op Program within the Swanson School of Engineering, and I thought that it was a unique opportunity that would be important for my professional development during college and after graduation. Also, the inclusive atmosphere of Pitt makes you feel a part of a community, even if you are hours away from home.

Advice to First Year Engineering Student:

Every other freshman engineer is in the same boat as you. It is important to stay focused on your studies, but don’t forget to explore extra-curricular clubs and go to the football and basketball games. Enjoy your first year of college, because the friends and personal connections you make in your first year will stick with you forever.

Extracurricular involvement and Future Goals:

I am involved in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and I hope to rush a sorority. For the future, I hope to earn a Co-Op with an electrical engineering company starting in the summer of 2018. I am still unsure as to want I want to specialize in within electrical engineering, so I am open to explore all aspects of the industry.
