Why I Chose Pitt

I chose Pitt for a variety of reasons. I knew that I would receive a great education from the Swanson School of Engineering and I love Benedum Hall. Additionally, I wanted to go to school in the city because of the freedom it gives me. There are so many fun things to do from going to Pirates games to going to see shows such as Wicked.  I was also amazed by how friendly the students were on my visit and knew that Pitt would be my home away from home. Pitt has exceeded my expectations in every aspect.

Advice to First Year Engineering Students

Take advantage of all that Pitt and the city of Pittsburgh have to offer.  Academically, Pitt has many resources for its students.  However, there are also so many great things to do outside the classroom: free museums, Pirates games, theater and more.   Also, make sure to get involved and create a "network" early on. It may sound cliché, but it truly makes a big school seem small.

Extracurricular involvement

I am the Vice President of the Panther Triathlon Club and a member of the Society of Women Engineers.  I am also an active member of Phi Sigma Rho, a national engineering social sorority.  I was an intern with the Sherwin Williams Company in Summer 2015 and will begin my first rotation as a Co-op Engineer with Valspar in Spring 2016.  I plan to graduate in December 2017 and find a job in industry.
